After failing to match the impressive form of Manchester City, Jose Mourinho has been tipped to reinforce his squad in this transfer window.
While the fans of Man United expect their squad to be bolstered before the close of this transfer window, they have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Spanish left back Alex Grimaldo, according to reports.
Mourinho isn’t happy with the left back he has at the club – Daley Blind and Luke Shaw were experiencing poor form and Ashley Young has been the pick for the position despite not being his natural position. United are in need of a left back and that has clearly been stated to the brass of the Red Devils by Mourinho.
Meanwhile, Grimaldo has been on the radar of United as they have sent scout to watch the 22-year-old on several occasions. Benfica were willing to listen to offers from United for the star but it appears the they have been hard done by as Benfica have agreed a deal for the player.
According to O’Jogo, £27m has been agreed between both clubs for the players transfer on a five year deal.
Mourinho will be left with no choice than to look elsewhere to sign a left back. Alex Sandro and Danny Rose are yet on the radar of the club but the recent resurgence of Luke Shaw means until the summer before United sign another left back.
